The RTB Board of Directors has recently been made aware of concerning happenings right here in our backyard of Mesa County. A recent article in the "Colorado Times Recorder" reported on a meeting at the Orchard Mesa Baptist Church, where some very disturbing comments were made.
The opinions and beliefs stated at this meeting represent the very definition of the political extremism that RTB exists to oppose.
We strongly encourage you to read this article. While we will let the quotes in the article speak for themselves, the fact that our neighbors and possibly friends are sponsors and parties to this thinking is truly concerning, as is our knowledge from recent history that extreme, emotionally charged thoughts can easily turn into actions.
The meeting was sponsored by "Stand for the Constitution" a local political organization. We emphasize that this organization does not necessarily represent the views or beliefs of traditional, moderate Republicans or conservatives who are not the subject of this warning.
We urge that the existence of radical groups and candidates encouraging violence in the pursuit of political goals should be forefront in your mind when you cast your ballot this November.
